Team of the Decade
Consideration was given to selecting a juniors "team of the decade". We`ve decided to give you a list of contenders for your own selections, based only on those who played on teenage teams. This list demonstrates the success of club coaching programs.
The players of today have often had some 6 or 7 years experience by the time they progress from under 8`s through to 13`s! That is why players are achieving representative honours at an ever accelerating rate. Players from our early days who had plenty of natural ability but were "born too late" to gain the benefits of Walla programs include Bill Chamberlain, Damien Butcher, Robert Bond, Jono Gough, Tim Furney, Nick Pike, Michael Hollow, Brad Cox, Adam Hanns, Matt Sheridan, Kyle Noke, Mark Dalby, Robert Bond and Ben Shepherd.
Consider also the "family dynasties" involved on Junior Rugby - Barry Toole - Dubbo President and Central West President, sons Sam, Adam, Dan and Jack are all prominent players. The Roberts - Ben, Tim and Stuart are all current 17`s members. The Burns - Clubman of the year Neil, and sons Kirk, Reece, Aiden and Kain. The Coles` - Paul`s sons Joe, Jono and Sam follow in Dad`s footie steps. There`s always been a few Elliotts around and now we see new families coming through the ranks - the Galvins, Laurences and others.
